generation kill perfect with South African wine

August 25th, 2008 · No Comments · Uncategorized

As I sat in anticipation of the final episode of HBO’s series Generation Kill, I decided to celebrate the finale with a South African wine (as a large majority of the show is filmed in South Africa): a 2006. This was a very pleasant wine, with both an oaky and fruity taste. It was very good alone and I could imagine it would go well with barbeque or shish kabobs. I have included the tasting profile from Sebeka winery itself; this is another fine catch for under $10USD.

Taste Profile:

“Our 2006 Sebeka South Africa Shiraz is a fruit-driven wine that showcases the jammy blackberry, dark cherry and earthy notes so characteristic of Shiraz highlighted by subtle notes of brown spices, cinnamon and toasted oak. This bright garnet wine is well-balanced and easy to pair with a wide variety of foods, and especially good with pork or lamb dishes. This wine is at its best if enjoyed within one year of release, but should be able to age in the bottle for up to five years.”
