The wife called today as I was leaving work, declaring a state of emergency. I wondered: did Tropical Storm Fay transform, on day four of the storm, from an annoying rainstorm into a full hurricane, taking a u-turn and placing it a collision course with Casa Wine?
No. We are just out of wine. I stopped at one of the local supermarkets to find it is going out of business (being bought and closed by another chain of supermarkets) and to my surprise, all wine was 25 to 30% off. Whenever you find a sale, I feel this is the best time to try some inexpensive wines maybe you normally would not gamble on, so I loaded the shopping cart. We will be sharing this booty over the next few weeks with you. Tonight we decided to try a 2004 Four Emus Shiraz from Western Australia. Its label states, “Proof that heat and coastline can mingle with vines to create wines full of the unique, vivid flavor of Western Australia.” If this translates into a smooth, fruity wine with a hint of smokiness, then I agree. Bruce the Emu is now a friend of mine and I look forward to meeting his three buddies.
