the ravenous pig is satisfied

ravenous pigTo continue from my last post, in which we left off pre-dining experience: The Ravenous Pig is an American gastropub in Orlando that did not disappoint. Of course we had wine; my wife and I split a bottle of Colombo Cote Du Rhone, while our dining companions had a Sauvignon Blanc and beer. The Cote Du Rhone, which received a score of 88 from Wine Spectator, had an herby after-taste with a tangy punch that was perfect with both the appetizer and my meal.  Perhaps the best part of the wine menu was the fact that they will serve any of their wines by the glass, for a cost of 1/4th the bottle.

The food was also of note:  for my entree, I had the steak frites (with truffle fries), Mrs. Grapeinabottle had a delicious farmers salad, and shrimp and grits. The others had the red snapper and tagliatelle.  As a table, we shared an appetizer platter that included spiced fennel and other assorted house-cured salumis and cheeses.   The Red Hawk Creamy Cowgirl cheese stood out as our favorite. Overall, this was a great dining experience that I would definitely recommend.  Just keep in mind the menu is seasonal including the wine menu, so it is always evolving.
