This wine has a very berry flavor, with Strawberry and raspberry notes spiced with saffron. I do not really appreciate the saffron as much as Mrs. Grapeinabottle. It is a lighter pinot noir in color, but goes well with meats and even with a cheese course. Overall, this is a good find for under $10 USD for a Pinot Noir, so go ahead and sink your fangs into it.

They accomplish this through a partnership with Trees for the Future, so now we can enjoy our wine while making the earth a greener place. Overall, this is a very good bottle of wine that is great with dinner and affordable at under $10 USD.

Because our daughter was off to the grandparents’ house for the evening (thank goodness!), Mr. grapeinabottle and I decided to try Pei Wei Asian Diner, a new restaurant in our neighborhood that had garnered good word of mouth from some of our friends. On the approach, it still looked promising: dim lighting, semi-hip decor, the faint smell of spring rolls in the air.

Then we ate.

If you like chicken sprinkled with faux-lime flakes and egg noodles soggy with a sauce that claimed to be made with eight ingredients but was actually only flavored with one (soy sauce!), then Pei Wei’s the place for you.

The meal’s one bright spot (besides the aforementioned spring rolls, which had a deliciously crunchy snap) was the glasses of Five Rivers Pinot Noir that we enjoyed. Needless to say, we left drunk and hungry, and traipsed over to the Whole Foods next door to buy a whole bottle to finish off at home.
